Mobius Capital Partners, the fund company manager launched by veteran investor Mark Mobius in May 2018, has just landed in Spain via Atrium, its representative entity.
The Mobius Emerging Markets Fund (“MEMF”) is now available for Spanish investors. The Emerging and Frontier Market Equities fund is run by Mark Mobius alongside former Franklin Templeton colleagues, Carlos von Hardenberg and Greg Konieczny.
How does the fund invest?
The investment strategy rest in two pillars: Pillar 1: Buy companies at a discount to intrinsic value, Pillar 2: Catalyse a re-rating through active engagement. The fund seeks to invest in 25-30 small and mid-company, Mobius follows a private equity approach to public markets by investing as owners of the business for the long term. They also eagerly engage in ESG issues. In fact, ESG policy is one of the trademarks of the fund company due to the high correlation between ESG integration and corporate financial performance in EM.
The focuses of their ESG engagement efforts are the alignment of interests, dividend payments and lack of capital allocation discipline, spin-offs and asset sales, operational inefficiencies, quality of investor relations, ESG disclosure and improvement and different share classes and voting restrictions.
