Amundi has launched a new fund within their emerging markets strategy. Following the growing demand of emerging markets strategies which do not include the Asian giant, Amundi's new fund aims to offer their investors a wider diversity on their emerging market equity portfolio. This new fund will have a more balanced country exposure, due to the exclusion of China.

The EM equity ex-China fund will be managed by Michael Tricot, deputy head of emerging market equities, and will be supported by a team of portfolio managers specialized in regional coverage.

The strategy aims to focus on active shares and liquidity, searching for best-in-class companies, great corporate governance, great cashflow generation, positive returns and low debt ratios.

Given the large and increasing weight of China within emerging markets benchmarks, some investors are increasingly looking for flexibility and diversification within emerging markets. The strategy provides an alternative route to investing in emerging markets at a time when initiatives designed to re-shore strategic supply chains are likely to change foreign direct investment and trade.
