Aviva Investors hires Mathew Parker as co-portfolio manager to its UK equity team

Appointment Details and Responsibilities

Mathew Parker, formerly leading the UK All Cap and UK Mid Cap equity strategies at Columbia Threadneedle, joins Aviva Investors as co-portfolio manager to the UK equity team. In his new role, Parker will collaborate with Charlotte Meyrick on managing both the Aviva Investors UK Equity Unconstrained strategy and the Aviva Investors UK Small and Mid-Cap strategy. Additionally, he will provide analyst coverage for the energy, materials, and utilities sector hubs, contributing valuable insights to the investment process.

Strengthening the Team Amidst Departures

Parker's appointment comes in the wake of the departure of Chris Murphy and James Balfour in February, who managed the £783.3 million Aviva UK Listed Equity Income fund. Their exit prompted Aviva Investors to bolster its UK equity team with strategic hires, including Parker and Kunal Kothari, who joined as a co-portfolio manager in February. Kothari later assumed additional management responsibilities following the departures.

Prior to joining Aviva Investors, Parker held roles at Columbia Threadneedle and BMO Global Asset Management, where he garnered extensive experience as an analyst and portfolio manager.
