Changes in the management team following the departure of Thorsten Winkelmann as CIO of Equity at Allianz GI

Allianz GI announces changes in the Equity Growth franchise. In response to the departure of Thorsten Winkelmann and two senior managers, scheduled for the end of 2023, the company has implemented a succession plan.
The plan includes the appointment of Christian Schneider as the new CIO of the Global Growth team. Christian is one of their most experienced managers and previously held the position of Deputy CIO of the Global Growth team. He has accumulated 27 years of experience and has been part of Allianz Global Investors since the year 2000.
To further strengthen the current team, they have added two new managers, Julian Bishop and James Ashworth, who also have extensive experience in asset management (25 and 15 years, respectively). Additionally, they will continue to strengthen the team and do not rule out new additions.
The Equity Growth franchise is one of the fundamental pillars of Allianz Global Investors. The investment strategy focuses on high-quality companies with structural growth and has demonstrated consistency in generating results for over 24 years. The key to our success lies in promoting genuine teamwork and conducting rigorous fundamental analysis. We want to assure you that there will be no changes in the process or investment philosophy.
However, there will be some modifications regarding the management responsibilities of the main funds, which can be summarized as follows:
- In the case of Allianz Europe Equity Growth, Andreas Hildebrand and Giovanni Trombello will assume the role of Co-Lead Portfolio Managers, supported by Christian Schneider and James Ashworth as Co-Deputy Portfolio Managers.
- As for Allianz Euroland Equity Growth, Andreas Hildebrand will continue to lead the fund, and Giovanni Trombello will join as the new Co-Lead Portfolio Manager.
- Allianz Europe Equity Growth Select will continue to have Giovanni Trombello as Co-Lead Portfolio Manager, and Andreas Hildebrand will join as a co-partner. Additionally, Christian Schneider will assume the role of Deputy PM
