DWS creates Capital Solutions to boost growth in alternative credit

DWS has announced the latest advancement in its strategic drive for growth in alternative credit with the creation of the new Capital Solutions business unit and the appointment of Vlado Spasov as director, effective immediately.

This latest advancement involves the incorporation of an active portfolio of operations, as the cornerstone of DWS's strategic initiative to accelerate the growth of its alternative assets franchise, valued at 111,000 million euros. DWS has a track record of over 50 years in the alternative investment sector, with a strong presence in the real estate, infrastructure, liquid real assets, and direct lending sectors.

The new Capital Solutions business unit will be part of DWS's alternative credit business and will offer sophisticated and flexible solutions in the field of special situation loans. This unit adds to other strategic initiatives of DWS in the field of alternative credit, such as direct loans, leveraged loans, and structured credit.

Based in London, Vlado Spasov is a prominent figure in the industry, with over 20 years of experience in the field of Capital Solutions. He was recently the founder and investment director of Trimontium Capital, and previously was the general manager of Blackstone's Hedge Fund Solutions Group and a member of its Special Situations Investing Group. Prior to that, Spasov was a director of Ares Management and vice president of Fortress Investment Group.

Vlado Spasov holds a degree in Business Administration from the American University of Bulgaria and an MBA from the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania. He will report to Dan Robinson, Head of Alternative Credit for EMEA at DWS.

With Vlado's appointment, we are moving at the pace of our commitment to growth in alternative credit. The Capital Solutions strategy is aimed at an under-served part of the private credit markets, between senior debt and equity. Vlado has extensive experience in providing innovative and flexible solutions in this space, with a solid and proven track record, and we are very pleased to have attracted him to DWS. In addition to leading our Capital Solutions business, we expect Vlado to play a prominent role in the growth of our Direct Lending business.
