DWS proposes changes to its Supervisory Board

As communicated last November, DWS proposes Oliver Behrens for his election to the Supervisory Board at the Annual General Meeting on June 6, 2024. The Board is expected to elect Behrens as its new chairman immediately afterwards.

He will succeed Karl von Rohr, who in April 2023 announced his intention to step down from the chairmanship after six years of service. As previously communicated, von Rohr, whose term as a representative of Deutsche Bank was renewed in June 2023, will remain a member of the Supervisory Board.

New roles

In his new role as chairman, Behrens will also become a member of the Joint Committee formed by delegated members of the Supervisory Board and the shareholders chaired by James von Moltke, chairman and CFO of Deutsche Bank.

After careful consideration, both the size and independence of the DWS Supervisory Board, as well as Deutsche Bank's general guideline to gradually reduce the representation of Deutsche Bank's Management Board on the boards of subsidiaries, von Moltke, who assumed responsibility for asset management on the Deutsche Bank Management Board in 2023, has decided to withdraw his candidacy as a member of the Supervisory Board.

At the same time, Bernd Leukert, member of the Management Board and director of Technology, Data and Innovation at Deutsche Bank, has informed DWS of his intention to leave the DWS Group Supervisory Board at the next Annual General Meeting. Leukert has been a member of the Supervisory Board since 2020. His decision also reflects the aforementioned guideline on the representation of the affiliated board, for which an exception was made to allow him to join the DWS Supervisory Board.

Bernd Leukert has supported DWS for many years with his strategic advice and technological expertise. Both the company and the Supervisory Board appreciate his contributions, his commitment and his careful supervision. At the same time, we look forward to welcoming Oliver Behrens as the new chairman of the Supervisory Board.
