Edmond de Rothschild REIM appoints Klaus Schmitz as Chief Investment Officer for Europe

Edmond de Rothschild Real Estate Investment Management (REIM) has appointed Klaus Schmitz as Chief Investment Officer (CIO) for Europe and Executive Chairman of Edmond de Rothschild REIM UK, effective from September 1, 2025.
Based in London, Klaus will join the executive committee of Edmond de Rothschild REIM and will report to co-CEOs Pierre Jacquot and Arnaud Andrieu. In his dual role, he will lead Edmond de Rothschild REIM's pan-European investment strategy, lead investment activity, and help strengthen relationships with capital partners in key markets.
As part of his new role, Klaus will maximize the capacity of the real estate business, specifically in logistics, residential, mixed-use, and operational real estate. He will chair the investment committee of Edmond de Rothschild REIM.
As Executive Chairman of Edmond de Rothschild REIM UK, he will support the local team to continue expanding in the British market and strengthen the firm's presence near institutional partners in London.
Professional Career
Klaus brings nearly 20 years of experience in private equity real estate, capital markets, and cross-border transactions. He joins from Ares Management, where he was a managing director focused on the DACH region (Germany, Austria, and Switzerland). He was also executive chairman and a member of the Board of Peach Property Group, a residential platform listed in Switzerland, and held positions at Starwood Capital Group, N.M. Rothschild & Sons, and PIMCO.
Klaus holds an MBA from Harvard Business School and a degree in philosophy and economics from the London School of Economics. His experience spans the residential, logistics, office, NPLs (non-performing loans), special situations, and distressed credits sectors.
