Franklin Templeton has announced the launch of the Franklin US Income Equity Focus UCITS ETF, a new actively managed exchange-traded fund that seeks to offer investors a combination of income and capital growth through a diversified portfolio of US stocks and equity-linked securities.
The vehicle debuted on Deutsche Börse Xetra on May 28 and began trading a day later on Borsa Italiana and the London Stock Exchange.
The new product is backed by the track record of Franklin Income Investors, the team responsible for one of the manager's historic income distribution strategies, Franklin Income, launched in 1948. Together, this team manages over $105 billion, reinforcing the firm's positioning in income-generating solutions.
The ETF will be managed by Todd Brighton, Brendan Circle and Edward D. Perks, Chief Investment Officer of Franklin Income Investors. According to the firm, the three professionals have over seven decades of experience in managing income-focused strategies through different market cycles.
The ETF will primarily invest in large-cap US stocks and other equity securities, with the aim of combining a high level of current income with capital appreciation. Franklin Templeton points out that this strategy is designed to provide diversified exposure to the US market, generate consistent income, and help reduce volatility.
The manager believes that the fund can function both as a core position within an investor's equity allocation and as a complementary source of income, especially for retirement needs.
We are seeing strong growth and clear consolidation of active ETFs in the United States, where this category is increasingly taking a more relevant place within investors' portfolios. We believe this trend will also gain traction in Europe and Latin America. Active ETFs combine the best of active management with the efficiency, liquidity, and transparency of the ETF format. Bringing Franklin Income Investors' capabilities to the UCITS ETF format allows us to offer our clients a differentiated way to access income solutions in increasingly complex markets.
