Goldman Sachs Alternatives has raised 1,000 million dollars from institutional investors for the launch of its new private credit strategy to offer business financing solutions related to climate and environmental sustainability.
Sustainable solutions have emerged as a key theme for many companies as innovation and scale have increased the profitability of many climate solutions. Political considerations on the subject, moreover, are creating unique market opportunities.
Private capital obtained for sustainable investments has been scarce compared to the total private capital obtained. The scarcity of private debt capital and the increase in demand have been factors that have created a notable imbalance between supply and demand, which has generated significant opportunities for financiers. Given regulatory changes, tax incentives, and the maturation of climate transition industries, companies are increasingly seeking flexible debt capital to meet their financing needs.
This new strategy is managed by the Private Credit team of Goldman Sachs Alternatives, which has nearly 30 years of investment experience in private debt credit and 20 years in environmental and climate solutions. Since 1996 it has invested a total of 190,000 million dollars.
Currently, the global implementation, experience in complex market environments and its ability to execute on a large scale make Goldman Sachs Alternatives the preferred partner of companies and financial sponsors seeking these financing solutions.
There are significant opportunities to address the imbalance between supply and demand in private credit solutions related to climate transition. Considerable capital has been obtained for private equity investment in this area and debt solutions are needed to expand it. We look forward to partnering with leading companies and financial sponsors to deliver performance to our clients. We deeply appreciate the support we have received so far from investors in this new strategy.
