HSBC Asset Management has announced the departure of senior multi-asset fund manager Kate Morrissey, who has left the firm to 'pursue external opportunities' after more than a decade of service. Morrissey was the lead portfolio manager and head of the firm's World Selection portfolios within the UK multi-asset team.
Kate Morrissey managed a substantial portion of HSBC AM's assets, with the World Selection portfolios alone holding more than £1.9 billion in assets under management, according to FE fundinfo. In addition to her leadership in the World Selection portfolios, Morrissey oversaw five funds in the firm's Global Strategy multi-asset range, with a total of £8.5 billion in AUM.
Morrissey joined HSBC AM in 2000 as part of the global graduate programme and advanced through various roles, including rates portfolio manager in the global bond team and leading fixed income services within the firm's discretionary wealth management arm. Her extensive experience and leadership have been integral to the success of HSBC AM's multi-asset strategies.
Nicholas McLoughlin, previously global head of multi-asset research and senior portfolio manager, has been appointed to succeed Morrissey as head of managed solutions funds. McLoughlin will now lead HSBC AM's flagship risk-profiled multi-asset solutions.
McLoughlin has a solid background with HSBC AM, starting his career as an asset allocation strategist in August 2011. After a two-year stint at Norges Bank Investment Management, he re-joined HSBC AM in 2018 as a senior investment strategist. His appointment ensures continuity in the team's investment process and strategy.
A spokesperson for HSBC AM confirmed that despite the leadership change, the firm's team-based approach and investment process will remain unchanged. This commitment to stability and consistency aims to reassure investors during the transition.
HSBC AM's robust multi-asset team and structured investment strategies are expected to maintain their course under McLoughlin's leadership, continuing to deliver value for investors across their diverse portfolio offerings.
