J. Stern & Co., the independent asset manager with roots tracing back to Frankfurt’s banking heritage, has announced the opening of a new office in the German financial hub. Andreas Krebs has been appointed as Head of Germany, marking a strategic move to expand the firm’s footprint in the European market.
Krebs brings over 25 years of experience in institutional investment, sales and client relations. He joins J. Stern & Co. from Mandarine Gestion, where he served as Managing Director for Paris and Frankfurt and was a Partner. His prior roles include senior positions at Dresdner Asset Management and Commerzbank Asset Management in Frankfurt and Dublin. Beyond his professional track record, Krebs sits on several charitable boards in Frankfurt, including the Bürgerverein Demokratieort Paulskirche e.V.
We are very pleased to welcome Andreas to the firm. J. Stern & Co. builds on the 200-year banking tradition of my family, which originated in Frankfurt. He brings longstanding experience and commitment to the public life of Frankfurt, for our return to the City, and the development of our German business.
In Frankfurt there are still many memories of our family history, like the Theodor Stern Foundation at the Johann Wolfgang Goethe University, or the Theodor Stern Kai on the banks of the River Main. As an independent asset management partnership with a long-term investment horizon, we want to become a trusted partner for German investors, and sustainably build our German distribution and client management team. We see significant potential in Germany, working on behalf of long-term investors in complete alignment with our partners and my family.
Jérôme Stern, Managing Partner
Krebs highlighted the historical significance of the firm’s return to Frankfurt and its commitment to building a solid local presence.
As a Frankfurt native, I am thrilled to join the firm given its deep family roots in Frankfurt, and I look forward to the challenge of building the German leg of the business. A long-term investment horizon is vital in protecting and managing wealth, as well as investing for future generations. Independent asset management partnerships, building on family tradition and long-term ownership, are absolute prerequisites in building trust
