Janus Henderson expands its presence in the European private markets with the acquisition of Rantum Capital, an investment company based in Frankfurt specializing in private debt and private equity.
Founded in 2013, Rantum Capital focuses on financing solutions through private debt and risk capital for small and medium-sized family-run or entrepreneur-controlled businesses in Germany, Austria, and Switzerland. The company has raised approximately 1.2 billion euros through its private credit and private equity strategies.
For Janus Henderson, the operation represents a significant strengthening in one of Europe's most important institutional markets. The integration of Rantum will indeed significantly increase the operational scale and local presence in Germany, also leveraging the established relationships of the German boutique with institutional investors such as pension funds, insurance companies, and family offices in the entire DACH area.
This operation reflects our approach to diversification towards high-demand areas, while we expand our existing strengths, including our relationships with institutional clients, to better meet the evolving needs of our clients.
Ali Dibadj, CEO of Janus Henderson
According to the company's communication, Rantum is expected to play a central role in building Janus Henderson's pan-European private credit platform. Supporting this project will be the company's 13-year track record, the specialized investment team, and a distinctive origination model, elements that could favor a gradual expansion into other European markets over time.
The acquisition further strengthens Janus Henderson's expertise in private equity, in line with the group's broader strategy in private markets. In this context, Rantum's network of industrial partners, made up of former board members and senior executives from large German companies, is highlighted as one of the most distinctive assets of the platform, thanks to its contribution in terms of sector knowledge, sourcing opportunities and credibility in the local market.
The operation is part of a expansion path already started by Janus Henderson in the private market, following the acquisitions of NBK Capital Partners in the Middle East and Victory Park Capital in the United States in 2024, in addition to the development of pre-IPO investment strategies. With the deal on Rantum Capital, the group takes another step in strengthening differentiated capabilities in the private markets of the areas considered strategic.
We are very happy to join Janus Henderson, a company with a strong culture and an entrepreneurial approach. By combining our experience in local and private markets with Janus Henderson's global distribution platform, we will be able to create even more value for our investors in the future and expand our offering throughout Europe
