Pictet Alternative Advisors (PAA) has announced today the launch of the European long-term investment fund (ELTIF) Pictet Private Assets SICAV Environment Co-Investment Fund I ELTIF, which offers investors access to investments in private companies with innovative environmental technologies.

It will focus on 20-25 investments, originated in the Pictet network, which covers more than 90 private equity managers, from renowned generalists to sector specialists.

Investment approach

Its environmental investment approach will take into account the scientific framework of nine planetary boundaries. Six are already outside the safe operating space for humanity and private capital is needed to catalyze investments in technologies and solutions that help to avoid, mitigate or reverse the damages. In addition, the penetration rate of environmental technologies is low and is expected to grow exponentially for a twelve trillion dollar market by 2030.

The fund focuses on more attractive opportunities in five rapidly growing segments, taking minority co-investment positions in high-quality private equity companies worldwide. The segments are:

  • Greenhouse gas reduction.
  • Sustainable consumption.
  • Pollution control.
  • Circular economy.
  • Enabling technologies.

Managed by Pierre Stadler, PAA's thematic private investment director, and Nicolas Thomas, main thematic private equity investment manager, it is based on a track record of over 25 years of Pictet in thematic investment and more than 300 co-investments executed since 1992. Pictet has 20 thematic investment strategies, including eight environmental ones, with more than 70 investment professionals.

The strategy is classified according to article 8 of the Regulation on disclosure of information relating to sustainability in the financial services sector (SFDR) of the EU. The minimum subscription amount is 10,000 EUR for retail investors (P EUR class).
