Rothschild & Co’s UK Wealth Management business has announced the appointment of James Morrell as Deputy CEO. This newly created role is part of the firm’s strategy to enhance senior leadership capacity and support its growing client base.
James Morrell has been with Rothschild & Co for 13 years, initially joining as a Client Adviser in 2010. Over the past seven years, he has served as the UK Head of Front Office for Wealth Management. The Deputy CEO position will enable Rothschild & Co to meet the increasing demand for its wealth management services and ensure long-term strategic succession planning and management stability.
Morrell will continue to report to Helen Watson, with whom he has worked for nearly two decades, both at Rothschild & Co and previously at Morgan Stanley. The firm is currently recruiting a new Head of Front Office to fill Morrell’s previous role.
I am very proud of the growth of our business in recent years as more clients entrust us with their wealth. James’s appointment to Deputy CEO enables us to continue to plan and invest for the future. Moreover, from a vantage point of seven generations of Rothschild family ownership, we are also ‘practising what we preach’ to our clients by focusing on our own long-term succession plans.
James is ideally suited to the role as through his years leading our Client Adviser teams, he has been instrumental in building our industry-leading reputation for client service.
Helen Watson, CEO of UK Wealth Management at Rothschild & Co,
Our priority remains to preserve and grow wealth for our clients over the long term through an acute focus on exceptional client service and investment performance. I am excited to take on this new role working closely with Helen as we continue to invest in our business and further enhance our offering to clients.
James Morrell, Rothschild & Co’s UK Wealth Management Deputy CEO
Rothschild & Co has significantly invested in its UK Wealth Management business, resulting in assets under management (AUM) doubling over the last five years. This growth trajectory is supported by strategic appointments, including Fernanda Rosset as Head of UK High Net Worth (HNW) Wealth Management. Rosset’s focus is on developing services for HNW individuals and ensuring that the next generation can make informed decisions at earlier stages of their wealth creation journey.
The appointment of James Morrell as Deputy CEO is a key step in Rothschild & Co’s plan to strengthen its leadership team and continue its legacy of delivering exceptional wealth management services. As the firm looks to the future, these strategic moves aim to uphold its tradition of client-centric service and long-term wealth preservation.
