Schroders Capital has exceeded $2,000 million for its Semi-Liquid Global Private Equity fund.
Since its inception, five years ago, the fund has sparked great interest among a wide range of institutional and private banking investors around the world, who seek to take advantage of the benefits of private equity investments in small and medium-sized companies, along with the benefits offered by an evergreen fund structure.
The fund focuses on acquisitions of small and medium-sized companies in Western economies and growth opportunities in Asia. The fund's portfolio is well diversified by region, type of investment and sector, so it is less exposed to the cycles that affect certain sectors.
A recent analysis by Schroders Capital's private equity team shows that small and medium-sized private equity funds have indeed outperformed their larger counterparts, with more solid and persistent returns over time.
In addition, the small and medium segment has contributed to the vast majority of opportunities in private equity and explains why investors seek to allocate capital to this attractive market segment.
Semi-liquid funds represent a relatively new way to access private markets. Schroders Capital has been at the forefront of innovation in creating financial product structures that allow access to private markets to a wider range of investors worldwide. This fund was the first in Schroders Capital's semi-liquid range, which now offers private equity, infrastructure and real estate solutions to both institutional and private banking clients.
Among the small number of existing semi-liquid private equity funds on the market, we can offer a fund with a five-year track record and access to the small and medium-sized business market. There is a clear justification for investing in this part of the market and it is important to offer the benefits of these investments to as many clients as possible. Investors are turning to private equity in search of higher returns and diversification benefits, and we are pleased to have the infrastructure and knowledge necessary to create the right solutions for all types of investors to access them.
