Schroders Investment Solutions CIO Alex Funk Joins PortfolioMetrix

PortfolioMetrix, a discretionary fund manager, has announced the appointment of Alex Funk as its new investment lead. Funk, who previously served as the Chief Investment Officer (CIO) at Schroders Investment Solutions, will assume his new role on August 1.

Before joining Schroders, Funk held the position of CIO at Benchmark Capital from 2019 to 2021. Prior to relocating to the UK, he served as the Chief Executive at Cinnabar Investment Management in South Africa.

The appointment of Funk follows the decision of Nic Spicer, the previous investment lead at PortfolioMetrix, to step back from his operational role in order to pursue a master's degree in Sustainable Energy Futures at Imperial College. Despite stepping back, Spicer will remain a shareholder in the business and will oversee an extensive handover process. He was instrumental in launching PortfolioMetrix in the UK in 2012.

PortfolioMetrix's Global CEO, Brandon Zietsman, expressed gratitude for Spicer's contributions, highlighting his role in building an exceptional investment team and developing the business to its current state. Zietsman also welcomed Funk to the team, expressing confidence in his ability to contribute positively to PortfolioMetrix's continued growth and success.
