This past day of RankiaPro Meetings Portugal brought together a group of four global asset managers who each presented a fund with a unique and differentiating investment strategy. Fund selectors and investment managers invited to the event had the opportunity to directly interact with fund managers from AllianceBernstein, Allianz GI, Candriam, and Neuberger Berman as they discussed the fund they personally managed.
From the healthcare sector, to businesses at the forefront of innovation, to ones of the best fixed income preservation strategies, global credit, the RankiaPro Meetings Portugal sessions certainly provided attendees with a lot of food for thought as they begin to look towards allocation opportunities for the upcoming year.

Ton is a Senior Investment Strategist for AB’s equity services, focused on concentrated portfolios, US equity strategies and sustainable investments. Prior to joining AB in December 2013, he was managing director of W.P. Stewart Asset Management (Europe), which he joined in February 1997, initially to oversee operations, client service and marketing in Europe and the Middle East. Prior to that, Wijsman held various international marketing and management positions with Royal DSM from 1984 through 1996, including president of the sales and marketing group in the US. He holds an MSc in pharmacy from the University of Utrecht.

Mike joined Allianz Global Investors in 2015 as a senior portfolio manager, with nearly 17 years’ experience in fixed income. At AllianzGI, his responsibility lies across a portfolio of fixed income products - he is the lead manager for the Allianz Gilt Yield and Allianz Index-Linked Gilt Funds, co-manager for the Allianz Strategic Bond Fund and deputy manager for Allianz Fixed Income Macro Fund. Prior to joining AllianzGI, Mike worked with M&G in London for 12 years running bond portfolios, and prior to that at Premier Asset Management. As well as depth of experience, Mike’s experience has breadth, including not only UK Bonds but also emerging markets and global mandates.

Nicolas has been Head of Client Portfolio Management – Equities at Candriam Investors Group since 2016. He started his career at Dexia Bank in 2000, then joined in 2008 Rothschild as Senior Portfolio Manager, and later ABN AMRO Luxembourg as Head of Investment Advisory. Nicolas holds a Masters Degree in Business Sciences from UCL Belgium and s a Post-Graduate Master’s Degree in International and European Relationships. He has been a CIIA Charter holder since 2004.

Norman, Managing Director, joined the firm in 2015. He is Senior Portfolio Manager on the Multi Sector Fixed Income strategies. Prior to this he was the Head of the Global Credit Long/Short team. where he had research coverage responsibility for emerging markets and sovereign credits. Previously, Norman was a managing director and co-portfolio manager for the Ramius Global Credit Funds. He joined Ramius in September 2008. Norman was formerly a partner, portfolio manager and head of trading at Arx Investment Management from 2006 through 2008. Before that, he worked at Trident Investment Management LLC as a portfolio manager for the macro hedge fund in New York from 1999 to 2006. From 1996 to 1999, Norman was the head derivative trader at Morgan Stanley in New York and London. Preceding that, he worked at Investec Bank and Price Waterhouse in Johannesburg, South Africa. He is a member of the Montefiore Board of Trustees. Norman holds an undergraduate degree in Commerce and a postgraduate degree in Accountancy from the University of the Witwatersrand in Johannesburg.
