Aegon AM has announced the launch of the Aegon Capital Call Finance Fund, aimed at institutional investors in Europe and the United Kingdom.
Established as a reserved alternative investment fund (RAIF) domiciled in Luxembourg, its objective is to provide access to the growing global market of capital call finance (financing backed by committed capital) and offers investors the possibility of obtaining superior returns in risk-adjusted terms with an investment grade risk profile and short-term maturity.
Of an evergreen nature, the new strategy has liquidity options consistent with the short duration of the underlying loan portfolio.
The fund, which already has the backing of multiple third-party clients, relies on Aegon AM's extensive capabilities in alternative fixed income, which comprise a team of 60 investment professionals and 84,000 million euros in assets under management.
The fund will be managed by a six-person investment team, specialized in fund financing (fund finance) and located in Europe, and will be backed by Aegon Asset Management's global Analysis, Leveraged Finance and Private Equity teams.
The Aegon AM fund financing team has invested more than 4000 million euros in over 100 fund finance transactions since 2018. The strategy has shown solid performance against its objectives, without suffering credit risk migration or credit losses to date.
Capital call mechanisms represent an important financing tool for private market funds, as they allow fund managers to meet their capital needs before making new capital requests to their investors (Limited Partners or LP). Backed by our solid track record and our advantage as pioneers, the launch of the Aegon Capital Call Finance Fund leverages this opportunity by allowing investors to access a new asset class alongside leading market co-investors.
Bas Kragten, Head of Fund Financing and Infrastructure Debt at Aegon AM
We are one of the largest alternative fixed income asset managers in Europe, with assets under management (AUM) that have grown over the last decade to exceed 80,000 million euros. We are delighted to announce the launch of the Capital Call Finance Fund with three initial clients, as one of our strategic priorities is to expand the alternative fixed income platform, leveraging our size and our long track record to create innovative solutions for an increasingly larger customer base.
