Denmark’s AkademikerPension has appointed Rikke Berg Jacobsen as head of environmental, social, and governance (ESG). Jacobsen joins from Nordea Asset Management, where she led sustainability research and oversaw the development and implementation of sustainable investment strategies.
She brings more than eight years of experience in the financial sector, with a focus on EU regulatory frameworks, including the EU taxonomy, the sustainable finance disclosure regulation (SFDR), and the corporate sustainability reporting directive (CSRD).
In her new role, Jacobsen will be responsible for advancing AkademikerPension’s ESG strategy, which seeks to combine competitive returns with sustainable investments for the fund’s more than 170,000 members.
Commenting on her appointment, Jacobsen said she looked forward to contributing to the fund’s responsible investment approach and its long-term perspective.
I am truly honoured and excited to step into the role of head of ESG at AkademikerPension – an organisation that invests responsibly with a long-term perspective and combines solid pension management with a strong commitment to the green transition.
I look forward to working with Anders Schelde and the team to further strengthen this work.
Rikke Berg Jacobsen, Head of ESG, AkademikerPension
Anders Schelde, chief investment officer at AkademikerPension, welcomed the appointment, noting the fund’s progress in ESG in recent years and the need to continue adapting.
In all modesty, we have come a long way with our ESG work over the past few years, but the world does not stand still, and Rikke brings the skills needed for the next part of our journey.
Anders Schelde, CIO at AkademikerPension
The appointment is the fund’s second major hire this week, following the announcement of Dan Wejse as its new head of global equities.
