Fidelity has introduced two active Article 9 funds aimed at achieving long-term capital growth through sustainable investments. The Fidelity Funds Sustainable Global Equity Fund is led by Cornelia Furse, with support from assistant portfolio manager Matt Egerton. The Fidelity Funds Sustainable Asian Focus Fund is managed by Mohit Mandhana.

Fidelity's Sustainable fund range incorporates a cross-asset class approach with a strong ESG framework, built on three core principles: engagement, exclusion, and proprietary research that assesses issuers' positive contributions to UN Sustainable Development Goals targets and indicators.

Jenn-Hui Tan, Chief Sustainability Officer at Fidelity International

Additionally, four of Fidelity's sustainable funds have transitioned from SFDR Article 8 to Article 9, while the portfolio management teams for these reclassified funds remain unchanged. These include:

  1. Fidelity Funds – Sustainable Biodiversity Fund
  2. Fidelity Funds – Sustainable Climate Solutions Fund
  3. Fidelity Funds – Sustainable Eurozone Equity Fund
  4. Fidelity Funds – Sustainable US Equity Fund

Fidelity's fund range now includes six active funds and two ETFs under Article 9 of SFDR. The total Sustainable Family fund range consists of 59 strategies representing $36.64 billion in assets.

Article 9 funds require 100% of investments, net of cash and hedging instruments, to be in "sustainable investments." Fidelity's definition of sustainable investment includes having at least 50% of revenues generated from environmentally or socially beneficial activities, measured by EU Taxonomy or Fidelity's proprietary SDG tool, or through a robust strategy for decarbonization towards net-zero goals. Additionally, "sustainable investments" must cause no significant harm, meet minimum safeguards, and adhere to good governance practices.

Christophe Gloser, Head of Sales for Continental Europe at Fidelity International, emphasized their commitment to providing the best solutions for clients and their dedication to developing relevant products for long-term sustainability.
