Finserve Global Security Fund is being renamed Finserve Global Defence & Security Fund. Alongside the new name, the fund is broadening its European availability, opening access to a wider range of investors across the continent. The fund has maintained an active investment strategy across defence, security and space since its launch in 2019.
For investors navigating the growing landscape of defence-focused products, this fund offers several distinguishing features. Its seven-year track record sets it apart from the majority of competing funds and ETFs, most of which have only recently come to market. The fund takes a genuinely global approach, investing in companies operating across defence, security, cybersecurity, critical infrastructure and space technology — not limiting itself to European exposure.
The portfolio spans the full market cap spectrum, giving it reach into the small and mid-cap companies that broad index products typically overlook, while maintaining a focused, pure-play exposure to the sector rather than the diluted industrial mix found in wider funds.
National security and defence capability are increasingly seen as preconditions for stable and resilient societies. At the same time, space has become a strategically important domain for communication, navigation, surveillance and other critical infrastructure.
Joakim Agerback, Partner and Lead Portfolio Manager
The fund currently holds a top-tier position among leading rating agencies. Its S share class has been awarded a Gold rating in the Morningstar Medalist Rating™ — Morningstar's highest designation — a forward-looking measure that assesses future potential rather than past returns alone. Since inception, the fund has delivered a cumulative return of 220 percent over seven years, with a 14 percent gain over the past twelve months.¹²
We see long-term structural growth in these sectors, driven by rising commitments from both public and private actors. To support that, we have built an advisory board with deep expertise in defence and geopolitics, alongside a team with long experience across defence, intelligence, security and finance, adds Agerback.
A European Commission clarification issued in December 2025 on sustainability assessments [add exact reference] reflects a broader shift in how the sector is perceived. The capacity of democratic nations to build credible defence capabilities is increasingly recognised as a foundation for stable, secure societies. The fund is classified as Article 8 under the SFDR.
Finserve Global Defence & Security Fund is an actively managed fund with a focused mandate across defence, cybersecurity and space. It targets companies that contribute to global security and stability, pursuing competitive long-term returns through a disciplined, conviction-driven investment approach.
