Janus Henderson announced today the launch of its first actively managed ETF in Europe. This is the Janus Henderson Tabula Japan High Conviction Equity UCITS ETF (JCPN).
The fund will adopt a high conviction approach and will invest in a concentrated active management portfolio consisting of between 20 and 30 positions with companies of all types of capitalization, offering exposure to companies ready to benefit from themes and structural trends of the Japanese equity market. In addition, it will showcase Janus Henderson's best stock selection ability.
Janus Henderson has extensive experience in Japanese equities and the launch of this actively managed ETF offers investors an alternative way to access the firm's extensive knowledge and information about this market.
The launch of this actively managed ETF represents an important milestone for Janus Henderson, as it allows it to meet clients' requests for their investment strategies to include a UCITS ETF wrap; and it builds on the firm's very successful active management ETF proposition in the United States, where it is the fourth largest provider of actively managed fixed income ETFs.
The fund will be managed by Janus Henderson Investors UK Limited and advised by the experienced portfolio manager, responsible for Japanese equities and the high conviction Japanese equity strategy, Junichi Inoue.
The fund will initially be listed on Xetra with the code JCPN, it will subsequently do the same on the London Stock Exchange and the Italian Stock Exchange and will be available in the main European markets.
At Janus Henderson, clients always come first, and the launch of JCPN is yet another example of how we listen and respond to what they demand. The launch marks the beginning of our journey; we are prepared to introduce a series of actively managed ETFs over the next twelve months, each of which will cater to a different client need.

We believe it is the ideal time to invest in Japan; with prospects of sustainable inflation and reforms to improve corporate governance, the country's companies are becoming more shareholder-friendly and offer greater investment opportunities. We have a broad track record of investing in Japanese equities through analysis focused on specific values, which allows us to invest in companies with greater potential to generate superior returns for our clients.
Junichi Inoue, Head of Japanese equities at Janus Henderson Investors
Until recently, ETFs were synonymous with passive investment and this has driven tremendous market growth. However, the majority of UCITS assets are still in actively managed funds. The effectiveness of the ETF vehicle makes it a natural way to offer attractive content to clients. The launch of JCPN not only expands Janus Henderson's product portfolio, but significantly enhances the firm's competitive positioning in the European ETF market, laying the groundwork for future growth and innovation.
