abrdn has confirmed Jason Windsor as its new Group CEO, following his interim leadership since May 2024. Windsor stepped in after the abrupt resignation of former CEO Stephen Bird, who led the company for four years. Windsor’s permanent appointment comes after a thorough selection process, during which he emerged as the unanimous choice of the board.
Windsor originally joined abrdn in October 2023 as Group CFO, having previously served as CFO of Persimmon Homes and spending over a decade in senior roles at Aviva. His career also includes 15 years at Morgan Stanley in London and Singapore, where he advised clients in the financial sector.
Douglas Flint, chairman of abrdn, expressed his confidence in Windsor's leadership, stating:
Jason has made a huge impression both internally and externally since he joined abrdn, particularly as someone whose actions show deep care for our clients, customers, and employees. I am delighted to work with him as our new CEO.
Douglas Flint, chairman of abrdn,
I am honoured to lead abrdn. I see significant potential in each of our three core businesses to drive a step-change in performance for our clients, customers, and shareholders. My focus now is on building a more efficient, growing business with a culture of long-term success.

As Windsor takes the helm, Ian Jenkins will continue as interim Group CFO while abrdn begins the search for a permanent CFO. Windsor’s appointment marks a critical moment for abrdn as it seeks to refocus and rebuild under his leadership.
