Today, the DWS Group has officially announced the appointment of Vincenzo Vedda as Global Chief Investment Officer (CIO). Vedda, already Global Head of Portfolio Management – Public Markets, will now take over the leadership of all key units of Portfolio Management, Chief Investment Office and Economic Research. This strategic change aims to create a more integrated structure to optimize the Group's management and investment decisions. Vedda will continue to report directly to CEO Stefan Hoops. The current Global CIO, Bjoern Jesch, leaves DWS by mutual agreement, thus ending his tenure within the company.
Vincenzo Vedda joined DWS in 2013, starting with co-responsibility for Global Equities Trading. In 2017 he became responsible for DWS's global trading, while from 2020 he led the European client business (except Germany and Austria) and the global wholesale business. In 2022 he took over the leadership of DWS's Active Portfolio Management, finally expanding his responsibilities to Passive Portfolio Management in 2023.
Combining our Chief Investment Office with our Global Portfolio Management unit is a logical step to better leverage our investment expertise for the benefit of our clients. In addition to his extensive experience in leading our portfolio management unit, Vincenzo is a capital markets expert who deeply understands the needs of our clients. We also wish to express our sincere gratitude to Bjoern, an expert in international capital markets, excellent communicator, close to our clients and valuable colleague. We wish him the best for his future, both professional and personal.
Stefan Hoops, CEO of DWS and head of the Investment division at the Executive Board level
With this reorganization, Johannes Mueller, previously head of Economic and Thought Leadership Research, has been promoted to Chief Economist of the Group. In this new role, Mueller will report directly to Vincenzo Vedda, ensuring a direct communication channel between economic research activities and investment management. Mueller will bring his experience and strategic contribution to improve the company's economic analysis and approach to the macroeconomic context.
