WisdomTree has announced the launch of the WisdomTree Space Economy UCITS ETF, a new exchange-traded fund that seeks to offer diversified exposure to companies that are driving the development and commercialization of the global space economy.
The product replicates, before commissions and expenses, the behavior of the WisdomTree Space Economy UCITS Index and starts with a total expense ratio (TER) of 0.50%.
The ETF is trading from today on Xetra, Borsa Italiana, Euronext Paris and SIX Swiss Exchange, while its inclusion in the London Stock Exchange is scheduled for June 5, 2026. With this launch, the firm expands its thematic offering with a strategy focused on a segment that gains weight as technological innovation, the reduction of launch costs and the commercial use of space advance.
The WisdomTree Space Economy UCITS ETF channels investor exposure through four major areas: launches and infrastructures, commercial services and applications linked to space, space defense and emerging technologies. According to the manager, the underlying index has been designed to reflect the behavior of companies dedicated to activities that make up the broad space economy.
Among these activities are access to space and support for space operations through launch, orbital and deep space infrastructures; the provision of commercial space services and connectivity; defense solutions aimed at protecting national interests in space and through it; and the development of new technologies focused on the space environment or enabled by it.
The selection and weighting methodology relies on a proprietary framework that combines thematic and company-level scores to prioritize sectors and companies with the greatest relevance in the future development of this industry. In addition, the index is rebalanced quarterly with the aim of keeping the portfolio aligned with the most significant opportunities as the theme evolves.
WisdomTree's proposal is based on the idea that the space economy is going through a phase of structural transformation. An area that for decades was dominated by government missions is giving way to a broader commercial ecosystem, where launches, infrastructures, connectivity, data services, defense applications and next-generation technologies coexist.
The manager points out that improvements in launch system efficiency and the reduction of access to space are expanding opportunities across the value chain. This opens new avenues of growth for both established aerospace groups and specialized, innovative companies.
At the same time, services based on space technology, such as Earth observation, geospatial intelligence, navigation, and communications, are increasingly integrated into the real economy. These capabilities already have applications in sectors such as agriculture, logistics, climate surveillance, or the protection of critical infrastructures. Emerging markets such as in-orbit manufacturing, space maintenance, and space data infrastructures, which reinforce the long-term growth potential of this investment theme, are added to this.
Space is moving from being a minority area driven by governments to becoming a broader economic ecosystem, whose commercial and strategic importance continues to grow. A decisive milestone in this change could be the IPO of SpaceX, which is widely expected to attract unprecedented attention from investors and further accelerate widespread participation in the space economy. This ETF is designed to capture this transformation through a diversified and forward-looking approach to investing in the space economy.
