Capital Group has secured authorisation from the Financial Services Regulatory Authority (FSRA) of ADGM to operate as a regulated investment manager in Abu Dhabi, a new step in its long-term commitment to the Middle East. The licence, announced today, 8 October 2026, allows the firm to carry out dealing, investment management and distribution activities in ADGM.
The active manager, with US$3.6 trillion in assets under management, has placed the office under Benno Klingenberg-Timm, Head of the Abu Dhabi office and Head of Institutional for Europe and Asia at Capital Group.
In May 2026, Capital Group announced plans to open its first Middle East office in Abu Dhabi. Since then, it has relocated employees from North America, Europe and Asia to bring its investment, operations and client service capabilities closer to clients and opportunities in the region.
The firm expects its local presence to keep growing in line with business and client needs. Klingenberg-Timm draws a parallel with an earlier milestone in the group's international expansion.
Establishing a regulated presence in Abu Dhabi brings us closer to our clients and to investment opportunities across the Middle East, a region where we have been present for many years. From day one, we will have a meaningful presence, with on-the-ground investment, operations and client service capabilities. Just as with the opening of our Singapore office in 1989, we are bringing the full breadth of Capital Group's experience to Abu Dhabi, which reflects our confidence in the region's long-term growth.

For ADGM, the arrival of Capital Group is a sign of Abu Dhabi's growing weight as an international financial centre for global institutions looking for long-term opportunities across the region.
We are pleased to welcome Capital Group, a global investment manager, following its establishment in Abu Dhabi. Its decision reflects the strength of Abu Dhabi's financial ecosystem and ADGM's growing position as a leading international financial centre for global institutions seeking long-term opportunities across the region.
His Excellency Ahmed Jasim Al Zaabi, Chairman, ADGM
Mike Gitlin, President and CEO of Capital Group, frames the licence as part of a long-term commitment to the Middle East and to deeper relationships with clients and partners there.
The Middle East is of strategic importance to Capital Group and to our clients. Obtaining our regulatory licence in Abu Dhabi reflects our long-term commitment to the region and our conviction that it will continue to develop as a leading international financial centre. We look forward to strengthening our ties with clients and partners even further.
