Franklin Templeton takes a further step in opening Putnam Investments to the international investor with the launch of the FTGF Putnam Global Research Fund, a global equity fund that transfers Putnam's fundamental analysis approach to a global portfolio.
The launch, presented by Javier Villegas, director for Iberia and Latin America at Franklin Templeton, is supported by the pull of its American counterpart, the FTGF Putnam US Research Fund, which has raised more than 5,000 million dollars since April 2025.
The new vehicle is the next phase of the strategy started last year with the arrival in Europe of Putnam's star American equity strategies. In the last 12 months, the US Research Fund has attracted more flows than any other UCITS or active ETF of large-cap American equity (Morningstar, 31/08/2026).
The Putnam US Research Fund has raised more than 5,000 million dollars since its launch in April 2025, a figure that highlights the appeal to investors of Putnam's differential approach to active equity.

The underlying strategy, the Putnam US Research Equity Strategy, was created in 1995 and manages more than 9,600 million dollars in assets.
The fund seeks long-term capital appreciation with the team's highest conviction ideas. It is divided into 11 investment tranches, managed by managers and analysts from Putnam's Equity Research team, responsible for buying and selling, portfolio construction and risk in their area.
We now extend access to Putnam's capabilities for our clients outside the United States through a global equity fund. Putnam's approach combines deep fundamental analysis and high conviction stock selection with disciplined portfolio construction and comprehensive risk management, seeking to generate alpha while limiting dispersion risk against the benchmark index.

With a neutral focus on sectors and regions compared to the MSCI World, the portfolio will maintain between 150 and 200 values and a significant allocation to the US. The team can invest in both growth and value, with a multi-year horizon and looking for companies whose profit expectations significantly differ from the consensus.
Bottom-up fundamental analysis is the axis of everything we do. Our experienced team has a deep sectorial knowledge, focused on generating profitability by selecting values with the aim of outperforming the market in different environments.
Kate Lakin, portfolio manager, Putnam Investments
The fund will be co-managed by Kate Lakin, Matt LaPlant, CFA, and Vivek Gandhi, CFA, from Boston, and by David Morgan from London, with an average experience of 27 years in the sector. It is classified as article 8 according to the SFDR regulation.
We are excited to leverage the strength of our successful US Research strategy by incorporating our experience outside the US into a global portfolio for European investors. The fund is designed for investors seeking exposure to global equity with the aim of generating superior returns through a selection of high conviction values, while at the same time controlling exposures to factors to drive performance from idiosyncratic risk.
