BNP Paribas AM appoints Isabelle Scemama as Deputy CEO and strengthens its commitment to alternative assets

BNP Paribas AM announced today the appointment of Isabelle Scemama as the new Deputy CEO, a position she will combine with her role as Global Head of BNP Paribas AM Alts, a European leader in alternative asset management. Scemama will continue to report to Sandro Pierri, CEO of BNP Paribas AM.
In her new responsibility, she will strengthen the development of the alternative assets platform and play a key role in the execution of the new strategic plan of the manager and in its growth trajectory towards 2030.
Alternatives, a lever for growth and differentiation
Alternative assets hold a strategic position in the roadmap of BNP Paribas AM and have become a key engine for growth and differentiation. With this appointment, the manager places alternatives at the center of its governance.
According to the firm, Scemama's recognized expertise will help to strengthen the role of BNP Paribas AM and the BNP Paribas Group in financing the real economy, especially through investments in infrastructure, real estate, energy transition and other essential sectors for long-term development.
Career and experience of Isabelle Scemama
With over 35 years of experience in alternative assets, Scemama joined AXA IM - Real Assets in 2001 to develop the third-party business and later took responsibility for all its fund management activities. She was appointed CEO of AXA IM - Real Assets in 2017 and Global Head of AXA IM Alts in 2020. In July 2025, she was designated to lead the combined alternative asset capabilities of the BNP Paribas Group, which encompass AXA IM Alts, AXA IM Prime, BNP Paribas REIM and BNP Paribas AM's Private Assets, in addition to her role as Global Head of AXA IM Alts. Her leadership has been crucial in consolidating AXA IM Alts as a global leader in alternative assets and private markets.
