Carmignac has incorporated Frédéric Jeanmaire, a manager specialized in European equities with two decades of experience, into its investment team in London.
The professional, who will join the firm on August 3, 2026, will assume responsibilities in several funds of the manager and will also participate in the upcoming launch of a new European equity vehicle planned for the end of the year.
Jeanmaire will co-manage with Mark Denham the funds Carmignac Portfolio Grande Europe and FP Carmignac European Leaders. Likewise, he will share with Jacques Hirsch the management of Carmignac Portfolio Patrimoine Europe. His arrival is part of the preparation of a new European equity fund, which Carmignac plans to launch before the end of the year.
With dual British and French nationality, Jeanmaire is a graduate of HEC Paris, has the CFA certification and began his career as an equity analyst at Bank of America Merrill Lynch, in London. Since 2011 he has developed his career at Columbia Threadneedle, the firm from which he comes.
During his time at Columbia Threadneedle, Jeanmaire managed several European equity funds with an aggregate wealth of 3.9 billion euros. Among them stands out the management for 12 years of a pan-European fund that consistently maintained the five-star rating from Morningstar.
According to the data provided by the firm, this strategy was in the top decile in horizons of one, three, five and ten years, as well as in the entire mandate of the manager. Since he took over management in September 2014, the strategy recorded a net return of 217.8%, outperforming the MSCI Europe Index by 73.5% and the average of its category by 109.0%.
Jeanmaire's investment philosophy is based on identifying companies with solid profit growth potential, relying on a pragmatic approach and a specific analysis of each value. His process focuses on long-term structural growth trends and on companies well positioned to capture them thanks to their competitive advantages, their capacity for innovation, and the quality of their management teams. The in-depth analysis of the companies and their value chains is also a central piece of his investment method.
Jeanmaire's addition adds to other recent senior hires in Carmignac's equity area, including Kristofer Barrett and Naomi Waistell, in line with the firm's strategy to strengthen its team with high conviction active managers and proven track record.
We welcome Frédéric to the team, at a time when Carmignac continues to methodically strengthen its investment capabilities and refine its product range by hiring the best professionals in the sector. Frédéric's solid track record, his decisive approach to selecting values, and his focus on client results make him the ideal person to continue consolidating our position as a leading independent active asset manager in Europe.
Edouard Carmignac, president and founder of Carmignac
I see a clear match between Carmignac's investment approach and my own, based on a shared vision of active management, rigorous analysis, and the constant search for the next big sources of growth. I am impressed by the quality of the investment talent at the firm and I look forward to joining a team of experienced high conviction equity managers, focused on generating solid results for our clients.
