Generali AM has proposed the appointment of Russell Büsst as the next CEO and the creation of the position of general manager, which would fall to Filippo Casagrande. Both appointments are subject to the usual approval process by the competent corporate bodies and would take effect at the end of the term of the current CEO, Bruno Servant, at the end of April 2026.
The initiative seeks to strengthen the leadership structure of GenAM and support the strategy of Generali Investments to drive the growth of its Insurance and Pension Asset Management franchise.
Currently, Russell Büsst serves as CEO and General Manager for the European operations of Conning, a firm integrated into Generali Investments. In this role, he is responsible for corporate governance and global portfolio management oversight, as well as participating in investment strategy decision-making.
His proposed appointment at the helm of GenAM aims to strengthen the manager's ability to expand its reach among global institutional third-party clients, in line with the group's strategic priorities.
Filippo Casagrande is CIO of Generali Investments and, since March 2025, chairs Generali Investments Luxembourg. Joined the house in 2009, he has held senior management positions within the investment function, playing a key role in defining strategies and overseeing asset allocation.
With his appointment as general manager, Casagrande will bring solid managerial experience in managing complex and regulated organizations, along with a deep understanding and a long-standing relationship with the Generali Group.
2025 was a very positive year for GenAM. In a context of volatility in the markets, the company achieved solid and resilient results, backed by consistently strong investment performance and sustained commercial momentum, with record levels of institutional mandates and continued strong interaction with clients. Russell and Filippo bring exceptional profiles and highly complementary experience. Both have a deep understanding of the growth strategy of our platform and the evolution of our clients' needs. The proposal of these appointments, along with this organizational change, reflect our commitment to continue driving the strategic trajectory of GenAM and take its success to the next level. As we approach the conclusion of his term, I would like to express my sincere gratitude to Bruno for his leadership, for the significant achievements made during his management and for the solid foundations he has established for the future development of GenAM.
Woody Bradford, CIO and General Manager of Generali Investments
