Lombard Odier Investment Managers and Ownership Capital have announced the signing of a preliminary agreement for the integration of Ownership Capital, a renowned long-term equity manager, which will become part of Lombard Odier IM's sustainability area (subject to the final agreement and relevant regulatory approvals).
Ownership Capital is a Dutch asset manager with a long-term investment focus. Its strategy is based on a deep analysis of relevant sustainability factors and active involvement as a shareholder, with the aim of driving corporate and sustainability improvements, seeking to generate superior returns in the long term. The investment team, led by Otto van Buul, has been developing this strategy since 2008.
With the closing of the operation, LOIM's sustainable offering will exceed 10,000 million dollars in assets under management in high conviction strategies and with a rigorous focus on risk management, through its own products and a closely aligned external offering in which it acts as the main distributor.
This transaction reflects LOIM's firm commitment to an increasingly relevant sustainable investment market, and reinforces its role as a benchmark and consolidator in the sector.
LOIM is a global manager with 78,000 million dollars in assets under management, distributed among its main business divisions, alternative investments and sustainability. The latter focuses exclusively on sustainable strategies, reflecting the firm's strong belief in the relevance of environmental, social and digital transitions for equity markets and asset allocation.
The integration of Ownership Capital and LOIM's capabilities will be highly complementary, by combining resources and perspectives. LOIM's forward-looking research, its analysis of structural changes towards a more sustainable economy and its networks of experts will add value to both teams in identifying new opportunities and sources of alpha. For its part, Ownership Capital will add its culture of active involvement and deep analysis, reinforcing the bottom-up approach of both firms.
Both LOIM and Ownership Capital believe that current market conditions, along with the growing demand for sustainable solutions, are driving new interest in global sustainable equity.
The integration of the Ownership Capital strategy will complement the existing sustainable offering of LOIM, which ranges from diversified and systematic strategies focused on decarbonization, to themes on climate, nature and social opportunities, as well as more diversified global sustainable equity portfolios.
The integration of Ownership Capital reflects our ongoing commitment to sustainable investment and our confidence in investment approaches backed by thorough analysis. The structural issues affecting our economic model continue to be underestimated by the markets, creating investment opportunities that we believe Otto's team, with its long-term and active involvement approach, is especially prepared to take advantage of.
