MFS IM has announced today the incorporation of Laura Reardon as a fixed income institutional portfolio manager to its team specialized in emerging market debt.
In her new position, Laura will be part of the portfolio management team and will actively participate in discussions about strategy and portfolio positioning. In addition, she will be responsible for representing the views of the investment team through her direct interaction with current and potential clients, as well as communicating the investment strategy and the positioning of the portfolios.
With nearly 15 years of experience in the sector, Laura comes from Columbia Threadneedle Investments, where she represented the firm's fixed income capabilities with a special emphasis on emerging market debt strategies. Previously, she spent six years as an emerging market debt product specialist and client manager at BMO Global Asset Management. In addition, she performed public relations roles at Aviva Investors, Barclays and Abrdn.
Based in London, she will report directly to Andy Windmueller, Director of institutional fixed income, and will work closely with fellow institutional portfolio manager Katrina Uzun and the entire emerging market debt team.
MFS has a long history of managing emerging market debt assets, having launched its first strategy in this asset class over 25 years ago. We perceive great interest from European clients in this asset class, as emerging market debt could offer attractive potential for income, profitability and diversification. Having this new position in London will be great to continue providing support to our clients in the region. Laura will complement and strengthen our current team, and enhance our ability to address the complexities that come with emerging market debt and generate value for clients.
Andy Windmueller, director of institutional fixed income at MFS IM
I am delighted to join MFS and to have been given the opportunity to represent a renowned asset manager with a growing fixed income business. In the current market volatility and notable geopolitical risks, fixed income investors need more support than ever. I believe my experience will be valuable in helping our clients address these challenges and achieve their long-term financial goals.
