23 JUN, 2025

On the occasion of its annual general assembly held last Friday, June 20, in Valletta (Malta), Samantha Ricciardi, CEO of Santander Asset Management, has been elected president of EFAMA for a two-year term, which will extend until June 2027. Ricciardi has held the position of CEO of Santander AM since 2022 and has more than 25 years of international experience in various leadership positions within the asset management industry, in firms such as BlackRock, Schroders and Citi.
Also, Micaela Forelli, CEO of M&G Investments for Europe, has been elected vice president of EFAMA. Forelli took over the European management of the firm in 2023, after having led for more than a decade the area of global financial institutions and the European distribution of M&G Investments since 2010. In total, she has nearly 20 years of experience at the firm, in addition to having worked for three years as sales director at Fidelity International.
Samantha Ricciardi succeeds Sandro Pierri, CEO of BNP Paribas AM, as president, while Micaela Forelli succeeds Massimo Greco, vice president of asset management for EMEA at J.P. Morgan AM. Pierri and Greco have formed the presidential team of EFAMA since 2023.
I assume the presidency of EFAMA with enthusiasm and a deep sense of responsibility, committed to contributing significantly at this crucial moment for Europe. We face a unique opportunity to act decisively, with clear vision and a sense of urgency. Our industry must transform savings into productive investment, and to achieve this we need action: a genuine Union of Capital Markets, Savings and Investment, accompanied by a cultural change that generates confidence to invest in capital markets. Achieving this vision will require unity and close collaboration between industry leaders, regulators and institutions, in order to build a stronger and growth-focused Europe.
Samantha Ricciardi, president of EFAMA
I warmly congratulate my successor, Samantha Ricciardi, and wish her much success. I am sure she will lead EFAMA with distinction, driving further growth and success for the European asset management industry. I also want to welcome the new vice president of EFAMA, Micaela Forelli. My time as president of EFAMA has been enriching and rewarding, with the opportunity to engage with a wide variety of stakeholders on key policy issues. I wish them both the best in this important mandate.
Sandro Pierri, former president of EFAMA
I want to express my deepest gratitude to Sandro and Massimo for the significant impact they have had during their presidential term. Their leadership and dedication have been fundamental in guiding the association through a period of economic and political transition, being staunch advocates of the asset management sector. Under this new leadership—our first entirely female presidency—I commit to maintaining this momentum and ensuring that EFAMA remains a strong and effective voice of the European investment management industry, backed by our 29 national associations and more than 50 global managers.
