Alberto Matellán, new General Director of La Financière Responsable

Mapfre has restructured the firm's leadership. Alberto Matellán, until now chief economist of Mapfre Inversión, will be the top executive in charge of La Financière Responsable (LFR), specialized in socially responsible investment. In addition, Thierry Chesneau will be the new President of LFR following the retirement of Olivier Johanet.
Matellán will lead the new 2025-2027 Strategic Plan of the manager, which focuses on the firm's internationalization and enhancing the concept of service in order to leverage investment and analysis capabilities with a proprietary methodology and an integration between social and financial aspects.
Professional Career
Alberto Matellán joined Mapfre in 2016 as chief economist of Mapfre Inversión and has over 25 years of experience in financial markets in international companies. Based in Paris since 2022, he participates in the integration of sustainable and responsible investment (SRI) strategies and products of La Financière Responsable into the Mapfre Group's offering.
Matellán holds a cum laude doctorate in Social Innovation Economics, PDD by IESE and is a member of the Spanish Institute of Analysts.
LFR is one of the few European managers that simultaneously holds the stringent French Label ISR, and all its funds recognized as article 9 of social impact. It brings to Mapfre a degree of specialization that, combined with the rest of the Group's investment teams, allows us to offer our clients all possible solutions in the field of investment and savings.
We reaffirm our commitment to LFR to invest responsibly with this new structure, which will allow us to work in an even more coordinated way and thus get the most out of our management teams. Our intention is to continue working on the application of a proprietary methodology to identify the best ESG investment opportunities and even consider launching new impact funds jointly.
